Fund Purpose: Building Legacy Through Infrastructure

The Munro Hampton Infrastructure Fund (MHIF) exists to safeguard and strengthen the physical foundations of two of Jamaica’s most historic secondary high schools—Munro College (for boys) and Hampton School (for girls). Our mission is twofold: to secure funding for critical infrastructure projects and to oversee their successful implementation, ensuring that these institutions continue to serve generations of students with excellence.

Founded in Toronto by resolute alumni, MHIF was born out of strategic consultations with the Munro and Dickenson Trust, as well as the Boards of Munro College and Hampton School. It reflects a shared commitment to preserving the legacy and learning environments of these schools, whose combined history spans more than 169 years.

While the Government of Jamaica provides operational support, the reality is that annual public funding falls short of what is needed to maintain and modernize aging facilities. MHIF steps into this gap—currently prioritizing urgent maintenance and preservation efforts—with the goal of saving existing infrastructure before it deteriorates beyond repair.

Our long-term vision is bold and sustainable: to evolve MHIF into a fully institutionalized organization capable of funding and executing infrastructure projects annually, from classroom upgrades to campus-wide improvements. We aim to create a reliable pipeline of support that transforms donor contributions into lasting impact.

On June 7, 2019, MHIF was officially recognized as a Registered Charity by the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services and granted Letters Patent under Canadian Revenue Agency Registered Charity Account Number 82435 9392 RR0001.

Together, we can preserve the past, empower the present, and build the future of Munro and Hampton. Every donation is a brick in that foundation.
